Mobile MIDI — Privacy Policy
Effective date: April 20, 2026
Last updated: April 20, 2026
Mobile MIDI is developed by Pounding Systems ("we," "us"). This policy explains how we handle your information when you use the Mobile MIDI app.
Short version: we don't collect anything.
Data we collect
None.
Mobile MIDI does not collect, transmit, or store personal information on any server. We have no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, and no telemetry. The app does not communicate with any server operated by us.
Data the app uses on your device
Mobile MIDI uses several device features locally — the data never leaves your device:
- Sensors (accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, barometer, gravity, shake) — read in real time and converted to MIDI messages sent to your chosen MIDI destination.
- Camera (for face tracking and hand tracking) — used only to compute facial expressions and hand positions on-device via Apple's ARKit and Vision frameworks. No image, video, or biometric data is stored or transmitted.
- AirPods head motion — read via Apple's CoreMotion API and converted to MIDI. No audio is captured.
- Device state (battery level, charging state, screen brightness, thermal state) — read to allow you to map these values to MIDI, if you choose.
Data the app stores on your device
Mobile MIDI stores the following on your device only. None of it is transmitted anywhere:
- Your preference settings (onboarding completion, last-used tab, etc.)
- Your saved presets and custom layouts
- Your mapping configurations
You can remove all of this at any time by deleting the app.
MIDI output
When you play notes, Mobile MIDI sends MIDI messages to the destination you choose — a Bluetooth device, a USB-connected device, or a Network MIDI session on your local Wi-Fi network. These messages contain musical note and controller data only. They are not personal information and are not routed through any server we control.
Third-party services
- Apple App Store handles your purchase of Mobile MIDI. We receive no personal information about you from Apple. Apple's own privacy policy governs your purchase: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
We do not use any analytics, advertising, or third-party SDKs.
Permissions you may be asked for
- Motion & Fitness — to read the motion sensors.
- Camera — for face tracking and hand tracking.
- Bluetooth — to connect to Bluetooth MIDI devices.
- Local Network — to discover Network MIDI sessions on your Wi-Fi.
Denying any permission only disables the feature that needs it; the rest of the app continues to work.
Children
Mobile MIDI is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in any way, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Because we don't collect your contact information, we can't notify you individually — please check back here if you want to stay current.
