Presets

A preset is a snapshot of your entire Mobile MIDI setup — selected template, MPE state, octave/range, sensor mappings, custom layouts, everything. Save one when you've built a rig you like, so you can restore it in one tap.

Built-in templates

Mobile MIDI ships with five starting-point templates on the Settings tab. Use them as-is or as a starting point for your own presets.

Saving a preset

1. Set up Mobile MIDI exactly how you want it — pick a template, turn on the sensors you want, map them, etc.
2. Go to the Settings tab.
3. Tap Save preset.
4. Give it a name.
5. The preset appears in your saved list.

Saved presets live on your device. They're not shared with other apps or synced via iCloud.

Loading a preset

In Settings, tap Load (or the play icon) next to a saved preset. The full state is restored immediately.

Deleting a preset

Tap the delete icon next to a saved preset. Mobile MIDI asks for confirmation before removing it.

Sharing presets

Presets are JSON files — plain text, small, human-readable if you're curious.

Export

1. Tap the share icon next to a preset.
2. iOS opens the share sheet.
3. Send it via AirDrop, Messages, email, save to Files, etc.

Import

Receive a preset file by any means (AirDrop, Messages, email attachment). Tap the file and select Mobile MIDI from the Open With sheet — the preset is added to your library.

You can also drop preset files into the Mobile MIDI folder in the iOS Files app.

Backup

Export your presets periodically if you've built up a library you care about. Deleting the app removes all saved presets.

Tips

• Save a preset before experimenting — if you lose the sound you had, one tap restores it.
• Name presets descriptively — "pad performance BLE" is more useful than "preset 4" six months later.
• Keep a "safe default" preset you can return to when a session goes sideways.
